This debut album from Whitecross hit us in the peak of CCM’s metal heyday. The guitar sounds are unmistakably 80s metal, but Whitecross has a much more melodic sound to their songs than some of the other bands. It’s like a harder version of Bon Jovi and it’s fun to listen to.
Whitecross has the vocal harmonies are typical in this genre of music, and in addition to that, each song has a melody that the listener can follow along with. Some of the similar bands lack this distinction. All in all one of the better examples of this style of music.

A harder version of Bon Jovi? Um, absolutely not. They were a Christian version of Ratt all the way.
Compare: “Enough Is Enough” to “Slip Of The Lip” and “Looking For A Reason” to “Wanted Man”. Scott Wensel was trying to sound like Stephen Piercy.
I saw them live in the basement of the Syria Mosque Ballroom in Pittsburgh PA and I still have Rex Carol’s autograph where he signed the date (which I thought was odd at the time.) It was the same place I first saw Stryper for their Soldiers Under Command tour. My buddy caught one of their NIV bibles. A year later Stryper played in the main theater upstairs for the To Hell With The Devil tour. I got to meet Stryper both times.
What people hear is completely subjective. Just because you hear one thing doesn’t mean others hear something else. Personally I don’t hear any Ratt at all but I appreciate that you might.
