Abraham – Underground – 1987

As near as I can find this was the last album from The Watchmen aka Abraham & The Watchmen Band, aka Abraham. Their last 2 albums are self released and in my humble opinion their best 2 albums. I simply don’t understand how a respected recorded band with a strong history couldn’t get these 2 albums released on a proper label. There’s probably more to the story but it is what it is. While I think I prefer “Anti-Sin” I really really like this one too. Unfortunately our copy of this album simply isn’t the best and I really wish I could get my hands on the original tracks so I could give it a modern professional remaster. Hint hint guys. As for the album it has a pop rock feel with some tracks leaning a little more synth oriented and some leaning more Rock oriented. All around this is a great album for 1987 and probably would have sold well.

Watchmen – Can’t Stop Talkin’ – 1981

You absolutely have to give credit to the Abraham brothers for putting out albums. They were getting little or none label support so they just kept self releasing their albums. This is one of those self released albums. It’s really a pity they couldn’t get a proper record deal because they were easily as good as anything else in the genre at the time. The lead track on this album is a fun pop track with a hook intro that probably would have done quite well with proper distribution. Anyway it’s a fun easy listening album from a group of guys who knew how to make music. You probably never heard this one so give it a listen. The lead track should hook you in.

Abraham & The Watchmen Band – Anti-Sin – 1985

This band were better known as Just the Watchmen in the 70’s and early 80’s. They had several albums though they all appear to have been self released. We have one that we’ll be uploading soon and it’s great. That said were talking about their 85 EP which is only 4 tracks but is great. Their previous work had a strong 70’s sound but this EP has a solid 80’s sound. These guys had at least 8 self released albums and you have to respect the effort. I really don’t know why they didn’t have an album deal but a part of me suspects that they chose the self released route intentionally. Anyway as I said this is a great little 80’s EP and the title track is fantastic. It was released on cassette with all 4 tracks on both sides.
