The Lifters return after their successful EP release.
This regular length album is more of the same Rockabilly sound. There was one track carry over from the EP “Eternity Bop” which is very slightly altered. If you had to pick a “single” that would be it, but personally I suggest “C’mon Back” Bottom line is that this is a fun sounding album that should keep your toes tapping.

When I was a kid I was into the 50s retro look. My grandparents had a ton of that stuff in their attic & garage. My favorite was the G.E. fan with the wire grill protector. So when I saw the album of The Lifters at Moyers Christian Book & Records on 82nd and Halsey, I had to get it after work and bike it 50 blocks home in the rain. (I especially loved the smell of the new cassette, not quite as toxic as that “blow your own balloon” goo with the fantastic chemical colors)
~·~·~·~ So “I’ve got a bunch of questions & I don’t know how to contact anybody about it.” (That sort of sounds like lyrics from “Isolated” by Servant from Rockin’ Revival).
My long time buddy, Dennis C, who is also a Christian rock Fan 😎,as well as a member of Flock14 can’t help me on these songs either. We had our differing favorites in the day and I can’t remember or find these bands on YouTube(🎉Praise God for YouTube!)
The Reach played with Flock14 in Portland. I got their tape but I can’t find it and I’d really like to hear it again. Holy Danger, also played with Flock14 in Salem at a grange. Their first album sounded like a black metal band(so said my friend Gregg) It was awesome! I loved thier song “Frozen Chosen” as well as “Alone.” And then there was The Fuse that I heard play with Flock14 at my first concert at an old church that later became a bookstore, that unfortunately burnt down close to the downtown SW YMCA.
But these other bands I can’t remember their name, only the song. it went something like this “Times goes by, sure knows how to fly. Takes no thought as it passes right by you. Old time seem just like yesterday, no reason those times should stand in our way.”
Another song & band I can’t figure out, did a remake of the old hymn “we gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing” And then they upped it to what it would have been in the 1950s (like The Lifters who came after) and again to their era in the 1970s or ’80s. I’d really love to hear that song again and know who the band was. Which reminds me of a song I would love to hear, as if from a dream, being played from Portland’s KPAM Christian rock & later on KPDQ’s AM 800.
The sentence is “and you know it’s right”…. that sounds like the question of the day on radio station who’s giving an album away, if you’re the 10th caller! I just happen to be one of those callers who got Benny Hester’s LP of “Nobody Knows Me Like You” from KPDQ.
