Talking Drums – Courage – 1982

I have a strange relationship with this EP. In the mid 80’s I was working as a secular DJ and some how I discovered this album. It was an import to Canada so it must have been a friend that found it. Anyway I played it fairly heavy and had no idea they were a Christian band. They were one of a few bands that early on were on the “Sticky Music” label out of Scotland. The label was started by a couple of Christian guys who didn’t really intend for it to be a Christian label. I guess it really wasn’t as it featured secular bands but apparently all of them were Christians. This EP was a great dance track album and I have fond memories of playing the lead track quite regularity. Funny it took me over 30 years to learn they were a Christian band.

  1. Hello,

thanks for the introduction of Talking Drums. I would be interested to hear more records from your DJ career. Thanks a lot in advance.

    O

  2. I was a Christian Club DJ in the 80s and discovered them. Evidently, they got some exposure performing at Greenbelt Festival in the UK. I first purchased the cassette tape, then the 12″ Vinyl EP. I learned recently that the Courage EP was remastered in 2018 and is now available on Bandcamp and iTunes. Another hidden Euro gem is the Technos who also produced some Christian dance tracks like “Foreign Land”. Thanks for sharing your story!
