While Andy Piercy was off recording his new album Peter Banks and Pete King went into the studio to record this rather excellent album. Even though it was recorded and mixed in Peter’s home studio it sounds radio ready to me. I am assuming they shopped the album around but like all things After The Fire the record labels didn’t want it. I will try to not go off on a tangent again about how After The Fire and subsequent member recordings were treated but I just simply can’t understand how this didn’t get picked up. Anyway it lived on a shelf until Pete King’s death in 1987 when Peter took it back out to try to get it released in memory of Pete. Lucky for us Christian label Plankton Records picked up the ball and released the album. Unfortunately it looks like it was only released on cassette and of course it had a tiny distribution so most of us never heard it but here it is. This is yet another excellent 80’s sounding album that we should have been able to hear at the time.

Thanks so much for uploading the Zipcodes collection of songs, it has been a long time since I listened 😉
I am writing to give you a bit more information on the co-operative of some noteworthy folk who worked on the project:
Producer for Got My Reasons, Hold On and Call Me Up was none other than Hans Zimmer
A number of tracks were mixed by Nigel Palmer, now one of the top Mastering Engineers in the UK
Steve Howe (Yes and Asia) played on Hold Me Tight
Brian Spence also played guitar on some songs
The much missed Alan Murphy (Level 42, Kate Bush and more) played guitar on Call Me Up
Graham Edwards and Daniel Frampton – bass
Matt Clifford (Rolling Stones touring band) keyboards and solo on Something Special
That’s just a few, the process was similar to After The Fire’s Laser Love album where we were trying out different studios and producers.

One question about this and other tracks that have been posted to real 80s CCM: Are all of the audio tracks limited to 128 kbps bitrate? I have YouTube Premium with the high quality setting, and that should allow me to get audio at 256 kbps (the best that YT offers). If I play a song from YouTube Music, I am able to get 256. But when I check the audio being streamed for the content on real 80s CCM (like Zipcodes), I am only getting 128 kbps bitrate. I am guessing that the source files must only be 128 kbps, or else I am wondering what I am doing wrong? Any thoughts?
